This week’s Frenzy First Timer artist is Oklahoma Folk.
Oklahoma Folk are not singer-songwriters. Because there is no shortage of masterfully
written songs already written and available to us, and because our desire to sing and play them never wanes, Oklahoma Folk is a “cover” band.
Knowing we will never get around to all the great songs that we think of, or
somehow discover, we nonetheless entertain ourselves with as many as possible.
Consequently, we continually add new songs, and “retire” others. Currently, our shows include covers of Emmylou Harris, Linda Ronstadt, Dixie Chicks, Sara Evans, Nora Jones, Tracy Chapman, Nanci Griffith, Patsy Cline and numerous others. We typically throw in some up-tempo fiddle tunes and Patsy Montana harmony yodeling to break things up a bit.
