What do Women Really Want?
What do women really want? That’s the age-old question. While the answers can vary from day to topic, it can be assumed that all women want friends, flowers, and good drinks. When all three are combined, good times are bound to happen. This past weekend I joined the Women’s Craft Beer Society, a local non-profit women’s club that supports craft beer and inclusion, at their monthly meet-up at Roughtail Brewery. It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon, the Sun was bright, the wind was low and the atmosphere was perfect. April’s meetup was a little different than usual monthly meet-ups. While WCBS has regular meetings once a month at a different brewery, this month they partnered with the local business Planet People to have an upcycle planting party. Plant People is a small local plant store in OKC that provides its customers with unique, healthy, and special plants to call their own. They help you find plants that you’ll love and even teach you the best ways to care for your new plant babies.
You may be asking yourself, what is an upcycle planting party? Well, it’s a fun way to repurpose old used beer cans, giving them new, literal life. Each participant on Sunday could bring their own personal favorite used beer can or use one that was provided, and turn it into a holder for a succulent. Plant People provided soil, succulents, and support as we all filled our cans. Each can was unique and special, creating a fun souvenir for the day. The event was made even more special as we chatted and planted with a beer or two from Roughtail. Some even ordered a beer that day, enjoyed it, then used the can as a planter. Nothing is better than spending the day surrounded by supportive women, drinking beer, and creating.
If you are interested in joining The Women’s Craft Beer Society for any of their events, follow them on Facebook or Instagram to stay up to date with what’s going on. You can also follow Plant People on social to get all your plant’s needs fulfilled. Thanks again to WCBS, Plant People, and the staff at Roughtail for creating the perfect Sunday Funday.
