Harvey Bakery and Kitchen is a Midtown Oasis

Have a strangely specific craving for a killer latte, tantalizing pastry, and an industrial atmosphere with a splash of old-world charm? Then I have just the place for you. Harvey Bakery and Kitchen is an amazing place for your weekend brunch or mid-afternoon study session. Open Monday through Saturday 6 am-6 pm they serve a variety of fresh pastries you can watch and smell coming out of the kitchen, breakfast bowls, lunch featuring soup, salad, and sandwiches on their fresh-baked bread, or order a take-home dinner for four.

I focused my afternoon trip on coffee and sampling of pastries. Harvey bakery has two dedicated chefs for pastries and bread. My future plans to visit will be to focus on their savory faire. I had the Harvey Latte which had a warm buttery complement to their espresso with toasted after notes. Fortunately, I scored their last cinnamon roll which she graciously heaped on the last bit of icing left and warmed for me. It was heaven in every bite. I also sampled their carrot cake scone which had a hearty mouthfeel with just the right hint of sweet added by the cream cheese frosting. Their cookies have just the right texture and balance making it a perfect bite of sweet without being too sugary or too flour heavy. They definitely have earned an award in my book for best cookie.
